The Commission's commitment to provide a prompt and effective response to all kinds of pollution problems fills a critical gap in the lake's protection. The Commission conducts wastewater treatment system inspections and area surveys to find failed septic systems coordinating with the Darrin Freshwater Institute and the Fund for Lake George, Inc bacteria monitoring program. The Commission also conducts park-wide surveys to identify sources of sedimentation and erosion. Park residents and visitors can call the Commission's pollution hot line to report suspected sources of contamination. Call (518) 668-9347 for a response during regular business hours.
The Commission coordinates with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's 24-hour emergency spill hot line. Call 1 (800) 457-7362 anytime to report spills of oil or hazardous substances.
